Maca + Nut Butter Energy Bites

Okay, so what the heck is Maca Powder?

Maca comes from a root grown in South America and it has recently made its way into the United States health and food scene. It is considered one of the worlds “super foods”. The maca root has many benefits that include increasing energy levels, boosts health, and has a positive effect on balancing hormones.

Sound like something you want to incorporate into your diet? You should! I have enjoyed using maca in various recipes, plus it adds a nutritional boost.

I have used maca in a lot of ways. I have put it in my golden milk lattes, tea, smoothies and recently I made these energy balls! They are so delicious! Maca has a rich taste that is warm and comforting. The best way to use Maca is to put a teaspoon or tablespoon in your smoothies, protein shakes, baked goods or lattes.

Maca Root Benefits

+ PMS, Menopause and Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)

+ Boost menopausal women’s moods

+ Decrease levels of anxiety and depression

+ Improves sperm production in males

+ Improves energy, stamina and positive mood

+ Helps prevent the development of chronic human diseases that have a high level of bad cholesterol



3/4 cup old-fashioned oats

1/2 cup your choice of nut butter (I used PB2 to save on some calories and fat)

1/4 cup dried unsweetened coconut flakes

1/4 cup hemp seeds

1 tablespoon maca powder

1 tablespoon local honey

1 tablespoon coconut nut oil (melted)

1/2 tablespoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon water

A dash of himalayan pink sea salt


Add all the ingredients into a medium-sized mixing bowl and stir to combine.

Mix until all ingredients are evenly distributed. You may have to use your hands a bit.

Taste if you need to add any more honey. (I didn’t, but if you want it sweeter, I would add more)

Take 1/2 teaspoon of the mix and roll into a ball. Repeat until the mix is gone.

Refrigerate these babies so they can firm up + enjoy!
